Cleaning Your Digital Camera

It is very important to take care of your digital camera in order to improve its operational performance. However, it is not advisable to employ just any cleaning method as electronics like a digital camera need special cleaning techniques.

The basic cleaning supplies needed to clean up a digital camera are a microfibre cloth or lint-free cloth-the ones that do not scratch the sensitive areas of the camera; a small, soft-bristle brush to dust off dirt from visible parts of the camera; a canned air or gas duster to dust off dirt from hard-to-reach areas; and a lens cleaning fluid and its corresponding lens cleaning paper.

For the digital camera's exterior, use the lint-free cloth to wipe it and clean off the smudges and fingerprints. Remember, do not substitute any cloth, especially with rough ones that may damage the LCD screen or viewer of the camera. Do not turn on the camera when cleaning the viewer because it is easier to see the smudges with a black screen. This way, you can clean your camera exterior well. Use manufacturer-approved liquid cleaning fluid to go with the exterior cleaning.

For the sensitive lens, prepare your soft-bristle brush to clean the lenses. For the front lens and rear lens, use a canned air for an effective riddance of dust. Dust often builds up at the lens' edges and it usually is only rid of using a canned air.

It is advised that you invest with the correct and manufacturer-recommended cleaning supplies in order to prolong the life span of your digital camera.
