Our Environmental Policy

Environmental Statement "Each of us on the planet have a responsibility to the environment. Here at Phil McDermott Photography we are committed to continuously improve our environmental performance and reduce our environmental impact by preventing pollution, reducing waste, recycle as much as possible and respect the natural world." Phil and Helen McDermott

Much of our work is done from home thereby reducing our need to travel.

Wherever possible energy efficient appliances and light bulbs have been used. Always switched off when not in use and never left on stand-by. PC power management is in place. All electrical appliances are PAT tested each year.

Spiritual well-being is important to us and as a result we endevour to promote a healthy space using natural fabrics, cottons and wool materials.

The cleansing materials used to clean the home / office are all chlorine-free and / or fair-trade products.

Living on the Isle of Mull is a wonderful thing although from time to time some small problems can arise. Here on Mull it is not quite as easy as on the mainland as most of the recyclable items have to be disposed of off the island.

Our own contribution towards this is reflected in the marketing side of our business by Reduce / Reuse / Recycle in conjunction with good electronic management systems and record-keeping, preferring to e-mail whenever possible, use of recycled paper materials, we also recycle envelopes and use scrap paper for notebooks.

Within our home / office we have our own collecting facilities for paper, glass and plastic which are then transferred to the local recycling collection point. Any compostible materials are dealt with here at Twelve Oaks.

We support the local economies and host communities by buying local produce where available, we have sourced local meat, fish, eggs and organic vegetable boxes.

Our garden surrounding our home / office is managed to provide a wildlife friendly environment. We encourage natural regeneration without the use of pesticides or chemicals - aiming instead to work with nature.

We have water saving wcs and use waterbutts to collect rainwater thus making an important contribution towards saving water.
